Constructed in 1552 on the tip of Sciberras Peninsula, this iconic star-shaped fortress guarded the entrances to both Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour during the 1565 Great Siege.

Fort St. Angelo

Originating as the medieval Castrum Maris in Birgu, Fort St. Angelo served as the headquarters for Grand Master Valette, commanding multi-tiered harbor gun batteries that controlled Mediterranean sea routes.
